Beautiful sunglassesI was first attracted to these after seeing them in the Thomas Crown affair. These are not the Steve McQueen edition but the blue lenses are similar. You can wear these with a suit or with shorts and a t-shirt. I love the versatility. I love the glass lenses because they have a nice weight to them. I love that they are polarized as well. These are just beautiful sunglasses. These are nice adult sunglasses. I love them. PS: the foldable feature is a non-feature for me. I like it but it is pointless in my opinion.

PERSOL 714 - SUNGLASS ICONOK, just got my Persol 714 54 and I'm not surprised. I got just what I expected from Persol, an excellent, timeless piece of contemporary functional design. Just like JSfromLA said in his review, these are not the Steve McQueen Special Edition, BUT they have nothing to envy them. The tortoise frame + blue gradient lenses combine to give a classy vintage look. The craftmanship is impressive and the quality of the details outstanding. I already own a pair of 649s and although they're brothers, each one has its own personality. Its incredible how a pair of sunglasses designed in the 60s is still considered one of the most beautiful sunglass models out there. Personally I love Persol lenses, and these ones are no exception, the color is different from your average color and you notice it while wearing them. I was concerned for its size (54 mm# but the fit was perfect. I recommend this item for someone who appreciates fine italian design. My only concern is the case, its size is a bit big for the product #you can only store them folded) and the interior is not as smooth as other cases I own. I'm not talking about the price, if you want something that stands out, great quality and design you have to pay the price.

Timeless glassesI spent a couple months debating whether or not to get these. The past couple years I have bought a pair of Versace's and Prada with my Rayban wayfarers and clubmaster's being my "staple" pairs of sunglasses.
I can say after owning these Persols for a couple weeks that they are the best sunglasses purchase I have made. They have a timeless look to them, and I am hoping they will last me well into full adulthood.
The production quality of these 714s is unparalleled. When you hold them in your hand and fold them up, you really appreciate the fine craftsmanship that went into making them. I especially love the blue lenses on this version of the 714s. Depending on how you look at the glasses and their exposure to the sun, they can be seen as a blue gradient or reflective (you get more of that cool blue reflection when you look at them at an angle instead of directly).
For those wondering about whether these are the STEVE MCQUEEN pair...technically they are not the "Steve McQueen Special Edition". Persol released a special edition of the 714s a few years ago- you can still find them on eBay but I can't find a retail store that still has them (they were limited to 10,000 produced total). The special edition featured the signature blue lenses, a special case, and arms that fold inward instead of downward. However, if you are looking for 714s with the blue lenses, Sunglass Hut has the closest thing to the classic McQueens (this pair).

Persol 714have a lot of fine high end sunglasses, love and lived in a pair of ray-bans (so much that I have more then a couple pair of ray's,) but.... These are something truly unique.
First off, Steve McQueen Nuff said...
Well built... Awesome polarized lenses ( turn a forecast gloomy day, into a blue sky)
Italy in my book makes the finest wine, and nicest sunglasses....but probably not for the first time buyer of a nice brand price wise. In conclusion, get what you want look cool, feel cool
Side note- sunglass hut is a great company. I've come across a lot of friendly people in their stores, good return policy, and tend to give some back to it's customers (send me gift cards and other cool stuff in the mail/emails all the time)
