James price's bejeweled creations have made their way onto the runway and award shows — and now, even sunglasses.
From the humble roots of flea markets and pop-up stores, James planted himself in the center of luxury fashion in Los Angeles. First inspired by a pair of shoes and a bag of jewels, James took his passion for old Hollywood glamour and started branding footwear with everything from candy to jewels. And the jewels stuck.
Soon, his Haus of Price brand was making its mark on the industry with gem-studded booties and pumps. Designing for superstar Nicki Minaj and teen icon Malese Jow, the New Orleans native is taking glamour to a whole new level and proving that bling is back.Shop the collection
Q:What was your inspiration for your Artist Series?
A:Elizabeth Taylor and old Hollywood — the glamour of what life used to be. Old Hollywood was so glitzy and it was so huge to be a celebrity. The diamonds everywhere really inspired me to make this collection.
Q:What's it like being selected as the 2012 hero artist?
A:It was the most amazing thing to find out that I was being selected. I have been shopping at Sunglass Hut for years, loving everything from Ray-Ban to Vogue. I grew up in a small town in Louisiana and the only place to hang out at was the mall. Sunglass Hut was right in the entrance. Even if I couldn't afford them, I'd go in just to try on a pair.
The Sunglass Hut Artist Series collection brings an exciting twist to our designer sunglasses.
Each year, we commission a renowned artist to make a limited-edition series of one-of-a-kind frames. For the Artist Series V, bling-king James Price added his glamorous, Old Hollywood - inspired style to 25 Vogue frames in multicolor combinations. Price skillfully hand-jeweled every pair with 400 Swarovski crystals, so you can rest assured that no two pairs are alike.
The Haus of Price collection features a very limited 25 pairs. Only 10 are available online. The other 15 pairs are available at select Sunglass Hut stores in Los Angeles, New York and Miami. Glasses in the Artist Series cannot be returned. All sales are final.Shop the collection
